Fabric weight is measured in GSM, grams per square metre. A lighter fabric breathes more but can feel thin. A heavier fabric drapes better and hides creases but holds heat.
For most Indian hospital environments we land between 180 and 220 GSM. That range is cool enough for a non-air-conditioned ward and structured enough to look professional in a consultant's chamber.

The blend matters as much as the weight. A polyester-cotton blend keeps its colour and needs less ironing. A higher cotton content feels softer but wrinkles faster and fades sooner under daily washing.
We also look at the weave. A tight weave resists stains and body fluids better. A looser weave feels airier but shows wear at the seams sooner. For OT and emergency use, we always recommend the tighter option.
If your team works across both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned areas, choose one weight for the whole order. Mixing weights looks inconsistent in photos and creates confusion during reorders.
